Avery BruceAVERY, Bruce Alexander  -

October 17, 1949 - March 3, 2024

 

Peacefully at Princess Margaret Hospital, surrounded by friends, on March 3, 2024, in his 75th year.

 

Predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Vera (née Watts). Dear brother of Christine.

 

He will be sadly missed by his best friends, Tom and Candace Allen and their family where he was known as "Uncle Bruce".

Bruce leaves behind a wide network of friends and colleagues.

 

He worked for 30 years in Legal Aid with the Province of Ontario, and carried his wisdom and learning from there into his dedicated volunteer work, most notably with the Citizens Advisory Committee for Corrections Service Canada.

 

His passion for the environment was unbridled. An avid hiker and enjoyed being a member of the Bronte Walkers.

 

His most enjoyable moments were spent in nature and entertaining in his garden sanctuary.

 

Bruce will be sadly missed. His family is grateful for the care he received through his illness, and wishes to particularly thank the kind and compassionate staff at Princess Margaret Hospital. Rest easy, Bruce.

 

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Royal York Road United Church, 851 Royal York Road, on Saturday, April 6th at 11 a.m.

 

For those who wish, donations may be made to Moorelands Community Services/Moorelands Kids, LOFT Community Services, or Royal York Road United Church.
