TSAI, Neveen Judy Tsai - November 29, 1964 – August 27, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce that Neve Tsai (maiden name Howard) passed away in the afternoon of Tuesday, August 27th, 2024, surrounded by the love of her husband, three children, parents and siblings. Neve was born in Calgary, Alberta, on November 29th, 1964. Her family settled in Oakville, Ontario, where she was raised by her parents, Brian and Aideen, and grew up alongside her sister Rochenda and brothers Neil and Phil Howard. Neve went to study English at the University of Toronto, where she met her husband, Dave. It was love at first sight for Dave; he even told his friends that Neve would be the woman he would marry the first time he saw her. As fate would have it, the two married on June 12th, 1993. They welcomed their first child Rochelle in 1995, followed by Erica in 1997 and Liam in 2003. Neve lived a healthy and active lifestyle. She loved playing tennis, reading, being in nature, going to the cottage and travelling. She was actively involved in her children’s sports and loved attending their games. She dreamed of being an author and wrote a romance novel that her children are finishing for her and promised to get published. Neve was a wonderful person and impacted many people around her. Despite doing a lot of good in her lifetime, the accomplishments that she was most proud of were her beautiful marriage to Dave and their three incredible children. Knowing she raised them all to be strong and good people gave her great peace.
Neve never wanted to be remembered as a sick person as she spent the majority of her life extremely healthy. She did, however, want to bring more awareness to metastatic breast cancer. Breast cancer fundraisers are everywhere, but most of the money raised goes toward breast cancer prevention and early detection efforts, with under 5% going towards metastatic breast cancer, even though it causes the majority of breast cancer deaths.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rethink Breast Cancer, an organization that focuses on women diagnosed at a younger age, those with metastatic breast cancer, and people systematically marginalized due to other factors within the social determinants of health. The website is: https://rethink-breast-cancer.raisely.com/
A private funeral service will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home on Friday, September 6th, at 1:30 in the afternoon. The family will be hosting a celebration of life for Neve at a later date.
