FRAIR, Veronica Teresa 'Ronnie' (nee McKenzie) - Veronica Teresa Frair, nee McKenzie, 96, passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville hospital on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from complications of a long, hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s.

The gentle and beloved “Ronnie” is survived by her children: Tom (Kerry), Dave (Remy), Anne Marie (Glen) and Steve, by grandchildren Shawn (Andrea), Doug “Forest”, Laura (Shawn) and Paul and great grandchildren Harrison, Maxwell and Ben.

Ronnie was born in North Bay, Ontario in 1924 to Seaforth McKenzie and Annie Sullivan. She enjoyed country life pre-WWII with her sisters, Kay and Mary, and brothers Cam and Bill. WWII saw Ronnie working as a Bell telephone operator doing her part to keep North Bay in touch with each other and the world, a career that was to follow her through her long life.

Following the war, Ronnie married her high school sweetheart, Harold “Ken” Frair in 1952. Ken was transferred through work to Sudbury in 1955, then Toronto in 1966, where Ronnie served until retirement as a switchboard operator at Scarborough General Hospital. Though she lived most of her life away, in her heart Ronnie always considered North Bay her home.

Ken passed away in 1999.

Ronnie’s passion was her family. She was a pillar of strength, a haven of warmth, quick to smile and was anchored by her devout religious conviction. She was also a renowned cook and baker. Ronnie will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Ronnie’s soft said words still echo: “It’s half past kissin’ time – time to kiss again."

Ronnie’s private funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church can be attended by arrangement with the immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements with Ogden funeral home, Scarborough.
