NACCARATO, Giovanni Naccarato

It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Giovanni Naccarato on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the age of 94. Giovanni was a beloved husband of Gilda Naccarato for 70 years of marriage. He was a loving and dedicated father to Rose Persichetti (Vince), Joe Naccarato (Carolyn), and Lisa Simpson (Kevin). He was a proud and cherished Nonno to Jamie (Angela), Laura, Sarah, Jessica (Taylor), Arianna, Keegan (Lonie), Kiera (Nic), Mya, Isabelle, and Makayla, and a treasured Great Grandfather to Lorenzo, Colton, Dakota, Lucia, Nina, Ryder, and Nicole. Giovanni was predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe and Rosina Naccarato, and by his siblings Frank Naccarato (Rosetta) and Sara Clark. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings Maria Turchiaro (Pasquale) and Arnaldo Naccarato (Anna), as well as by the many nieces, nephews, and extended family who were blessed to know him. Known for his gentle spirit, Giovanni greeted everyone with a twinkle in his eye, a warm smile, and a kind, loving heart that made all who met him feel welcome. Though small in stature, Giovanni was a remarkable, strong, and determined man. He never allowed his size to define him. A skilled and respected bricklayer with the local union, he later retired from Dow after many years of dedicated service. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and the Dante Club. His unwavering work ethic, resilience, humility, and quiet strength earned him the respect and admiration of family, friends, neighbours, and colleagues alike. Above all, Giovanni was a man of deep and unwavering faith. His love for God was the foundation of his life and the compass by which he lived each day. Through humble prayer, faithful service, and a generous heart, he reflected Christ’s love to everyone around him. His faith was not only something he believed, but it was also something he lived. He found great joy in tending his garden, generously sharing its harvest with family, friends, doctors, and neighbours. Even the animals seemed drawn to his gentle spirit, often following him through the garden he lovingly cared for. In every season of life, he quietly sowed seeds of kindness, compassion, generosity, and love. Though he is no longer with us, the seeds he planted through his faith, his example, and his love will continue to bloom in our hearts for generations to come. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Stoesser, his family physician, Dr. Crombeen, and all the hospital staff, from the paramedics to the exceptional nurses and support staff on the Fourth Floor Medical Unit and the Palliative Care Unit, for the dignity, compassion, comfort, and outstanding care they provided to Giovanni and our family during his final days. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home – McKenzie & Blundy Chapel, 431 Christina Street North, Sarnia, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held between 3:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 1465 Lecaron Avenue, Sarnia, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Sarnia.
