BELL, Gloria May (nee REID) Bell - In the early morning of Sunday, June 16, 2024, Gloria Bell left this life to join her parents, brother and husband.
Born September 16, 1927 to Percival Reid and Thelma (Grace) Haskell in Toronto, she enjoyed life with her extended family in Riverdale and East York.
On June 14, 1946, she married Dr. James Stewart Bell, who died in 2011, and with him had her four children: Linda (Alex Ross, deceased), Jim (Gloria), Barbara (Tom Wedseltoft) and Duncan (Anne) Bell.
She also leaves her five much beloved grandchildren, Amanda, Katherine, Heather, Craig and Andrew, their spouses; and six great-grandchildren.
She lived almost her entire life in the East end of Toronto, with a brief sojourn in Brandon, Manitoba, while Dr. Bell was engaged in a residency there.
She was active in Westview Presbyterian Church, where she organized the popular bazaar and was Chair of the Board, at a time when women were expected to take more of a backseat role.
Her children, grandchildren, and lately, her great-grandchildren, were her pride and joy and in her later years, as dementia slowly limited her world, she filled her room with pictures of us all.
The family would like to thank the staff at Harmony Hills, for their dedication to caring for Mom, especially during the challenging pandemic when visits were limited and support hard to come by. You enabled her to spend her last years in comfort close to home.
