Frederick Lorne Carpenter passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on February 26, 2024, at his Thornhill home.
He is survived by his spouse, Ruth, of 48 years; his children, Andrea (with her husband Adrian) and Bethany (with her husband Peter); and his grandchildren, Reid and Gavin. He is also survived by his sister, Karen.
Remembered by all for his honest demeanor and biting wit, he was an engaging conversationalist for all those who knew him well. Fred was a shining example of diligence and expertise in his profession as an actuary.
With a keen analytical mind and a steadfast commitment to accuracy, he navigated the complexities of risk and probability with grace and precision.
His colleagues admired his professionalism, his integrity, and his unwavering dedication to his craft.
The family would like to express deep thanks to the staff at Sunnybrook hospital and the many other medical professionals who were involved in his care as he battled multiple simultaneous forms of cancer.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home at 8088 Yonge St. in Thornhill. Guests are welcome as of 1 p.m., with the service beginning at 2 p.m. and the reception following afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Toronto Humane Society.
