IGUCHI, Katsu - Passed away peacefully, on April 10, 2024, in his 101st year.
He is survived by Elsie, his loving and devoted wife of over 60 years.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Masuko Jacqueline and Hideyo Arline.
He was a longtime faithful friend of Stanley Hideo Hiraki. Katsu was born in Vancouver, where his parents ran a rooming house.
He had a boundless memory of his younger days and was a great storyteller.
Kats and Elsie enjoyed driving to their weekend condo in Barrie, on the shores of Kempenfelt Bay. Every day, without fail, they would leave their apartment for a walk or drive to their favourite eating spots, especially the Mandarin.
They enjoyed social gatherings together. Katsu loved sending and receiving handwritten letters to colleagues and friends. He enjoyed attending functions at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, and recently was honoured with other Japanese Canadian centarians.
Katsu worked until his retirement for Renown Steel as their Chartered Accountant.
He continued to do his income tax up to this year, and was still in contact with his co-workers. He will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Tuesday, April 23rd, 11 a.m., followed by a light lunch at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough, Ontario M1K 1R1.
