RODRIGUES, Fernando - A life of adventure On Sunday, July 20, 2024 Fernando Rodrigues left us.
He was 77.
Life held adventure for Fernando, his earliest exploit at a very young age, an unsuccessful and dangerous attempt to cross the impressive Tagus River in Lisbon on his homemade raft.
Fernando immigrated with his parents, Manon and Fernando (Senior) and brother, Henry to Canada in 1963, settling in the city of Toronto.
A graduate of Metropolitan University (then Ryerson), Fernando worked for the Ministry of the Environment.
Having a passion for flying, opportunities allowed Fernando to circle much of the world in small aircraft.
An avid and accomplished sailor, Fernando crossed the Atlantic and much of the coastline of Europe. Fernando cherished his farm near the Ganoraska Forest in Northumberland County for over three decades.
Fernando is survived by his two daughters, Natalie and Megan; grandchildren, Carter and Chloe; brother, Henry and his family. Special thanks to those who helped Fernando during his struggle with dementia: Diane Sander, Brian Wesbrook as well as the health care providers from Northumberland County.
A pragmatic man, Fernando requested his remains be donated for research.
Celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 25th at the Elmhirst Resort, Enterprise Room, 1045 Settlers Line, Keene, ON from 1-4 p.m.
