Santa (Carmela) Sgreccia
October 10, 1927 - November 24, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Carmela Sgreccia, in her 98th year. She passed peacefully on November 24, 2024, and is now reunited with her cherished husband, Quinto (predeceased in 1988).
Carmela will be lovingly remembered by her children: Fernando (Nancy), Giannina (Dino Toscani), Tina (Angelo Lolli), and Danny (Laura). She was the adored nonna of Cinzia (Dean), Tanya (Terry), Nadia (Joseph), Cristina (Michael), Diana (George), Joshua, Adrian (Keisha), Angelina, and Nicolas. Her love extended to her cherished bisnonni: Mario, Sofia, Isabella, Zachary, Sienna, Ava, Marcus, Jacob, Georgie, Zoe, and Isla.
Born in Corinaldo, Ancona, Carmela immigrated to Canada in 1964 with her husband and their two eldest children, bringing only hope and determination for a brighter future. Later, they were blessed with two more children. Carmela was known for her tireless work ethic and devotion to family. Her passion for gardening, sewing, and her hobby farm was matched only by her love of cooking, where she created meals that brought her family together in laughter and love.
Carmela was a source of strength and inspiration, defined by her unwavering faith and selfless devotion to her family. Her legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Ridgeview Long Term Care, where Carmela resided for the past three and a half years, and to Dr. Ralph Profetto for his exceptional care.
