COOKE, Shirley June (nee ROBINSON) - With great sadness, we announce the passing of Shirley June Cooke, (née Robinson), on July 23, 2022, at the age of 88, in Kingston, Ontario.
She is survived by her children, Pat Williams (Andrew) of Brampton, Jayne Cooke of Ottawa, and Bob Cooke (Joanna) of Kingston; as well as her grandchildren, Steve Cooke, Katie Williams, and Sarah Williams.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, William (Bill) Cooke; and her granddaughter, Alison Cooke.
She was also predeceased by her siblings, David, Alan, and Joan (Brown).
Shirley was born on June 9, 1934, in Toronto, the daughter of Kathleen (Kay) Brooke-Daykin and John Beverly Robinson.
She attended school in North Toronto; married and lived in Leaside for many years, before retiring to Elgin, Ontario.
She spent the last 20+ years of her life living in Kingston. She enjoyed a lifelong membership in the Girl Guide of Canada, starting as a Brownie leader at age 18. Her talents included sewing, knitting, and quilting.
She treasured many summers at the family cottage on the Big Rideau Lake, both as a child, and with her own children and grandchildren.
She was a kind and generous friend, always willing to listen and support in times of need. She will be truly missed. The family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care she received from the staff at the Trillium Care Community.
A service will be held on Saturday, August 6 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 236 Nelson St., Kingston.
