McNAUGHTON, Velma (nee FLETCHER) - Born October 4, 1933, Velma passed away peacefully on September 2, 2017 in her 84th year.
Velma was predeceased by her parents Cecil and Lily Fletcher and her sister Maureen Miller.
She was the loving mother of Kevin (Joan), Shawn (Kim), Darren (Connie) and Megan (Michael Stasyshyn).
Velma was the super fantastic loving grandmother of Scott, Andrew (Krissy), Shawn, Daniel, Patrick, Jonathan and Ryan McNaughton and Wyatt and Eilish Stasyshyn.
Velma was a very well-respected Special Education Teacher in the North York Board of Education and sang all around the world as a soprano with the Mendelssohn Choir as well as the Festival Singers. In recent years, she was also an active member of the Swan Lake Singers. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and extended family.
Friends will be received at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, Markham on Tuesday, September 5th at 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Private service will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017.
Her family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at Markham Stouffville Hospital for their excellent care.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
