WEBSTER, Susan Frances Webster

With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Susan Frances Webster in her 94th year.

Susan grew up in Shawinigan, Quebec, graduating as the valedictorian from Shawinigan High School. She then moved to Quebec City, where she completed more schooling before following her calling to nursing. She trained at Montreal General Hospital and went on to become head nurse of the Neuro ICU, a role she held with dedication and pride. During this time, Susan also served in the army reserve, where she met her cherished husband, Desmond.

Family was at the heart of Susan’s life. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and the proud matriarch of a growing family. Susan gave generously to her community, volunteering with parent-teacher councils, Meals-on-Wheels, the Cub Scouts, and as a regular blood donor. She was a lifelong Anglican and an active member of Christ Memorial Church and St. George’s Church in Oshawa, where she served faithfully on the Altar Guild for many years.

Susan found immense joy in gathering with her extended family during summers in Tadoussac, creating treasured memories that will live on in all of us.

Susan leaves behind her loving family: Barbara and Kevin Dillon and their children: Marcus (with his wife Jessica and their children Olivia, Samuel, and Isabelle), Katie (with her husband David and their children Thomas and Daniel), and Eric (with his wife Brianna)

Judy and Jeff Willette and their children: Ian (with his partner Lauren), Graham (with his wife Jessica), and Amy

Stephen and Kathy and their children: Victoria (with her husband Braden and their children Owen, Cam, Sloane, and Maggie), Alex, Bridget, and Nicholas (with his partner Ainsley)

Kevin and Diane and their children: Syd (with his wife Corden), Maggie (with her husband Liam and their children Daniel, Michael, and Charles)

Susan is also survived by her sisters Joan and Sheila, and her brother Jimmy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Desmond.

Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Amica Whitby for their compassionate care of Susan during her final years and to the doctors and nurses in the Lakeridge Health Oshawa Palliative Care Unit.

A service to celebrate Susan’s life will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, 51 Centre St., Oshawa, ON, L1H 3Z9 on Saturday, April 25 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CNIB, St. George’s Church, the Tadoussac Protestant Chapel, or the Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre which are all causes that were close to Susan’s heart.
