AGOSTINIS, Guerrino Angelo Agostinis

A long time resident of Whitby passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Oshawa in his 79th year.
Guerrino Angelo Agostinis was born to loving parents Mattia and Angelina in Prato Carnico, a small town in the Carnic Alps in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region of Northern Italy. As a young boy, Rino learned to ski the snow covered hills in his home town, a passion that he continued to enjoy with his family throughout the years.
At the age of ten, Rino immigrated to Toronto with his Mother and siblings to join Mattia who had immigrated in 1955.
The family eventually moved to Scarborough where Rino spent his formative years. He quickly mastered English and excelled in academics at W. A. Porter and was a member of the football, cross country and wrestling teams. Upon graduation, he attended Ontario Teachers’ College and began a successful career as a teacher and vice principal with the Durham Catholic Board. While teaching, he met his loving, devoted wife and best friend GisΓ¨le Bourgeois.
Rino and Gisèle shared an in interest in art, a love of nature, and were content to spend time with their cats or spend time in their beautiful garden watching the birds. They were happiest on their many trips to Italy where they would enjoy the beauty of the Italian Alps and celebrate special times with family and friends.
Rino was a devoted Father to his children, Aaron (Jodie), Lisa (Greg Frahm), and Matthew (Vanessa) and helped them in anyway he could. He was a proud Nonno to Kyle, Julia, Eva and Sabrina.
Rino will be greatly missed by his brother Euso (Gail) and sister Anna (Kirk Milne). He is lovingly remembered by extended family and friends in Canada, Italy and Australia.
Cremation to take place followed by a family Celebration of Life.
