FOWLES, Douglas - The Family of Douglas Fowles (born November 18, 1941) is saddened to announce that on Saturday, June 18, 2022, Doug died suddenly in Victoria, BC.
He will be missed by daughter, Cynthia (Mark), son, Paul (Michelle), daughter, Corinne (Dom) and son, Doug Jr. (a.k.a. Dougie), grandchildren, Danielle (Curtis), Cameron (Layla), Devin (Amanda), Monica, Haydn and Callum and great-grandson, Theo.
Born and raised in Toronto ("The Junction"), Doug attended local elementary schools and Humberside Collegiate.
His family moved "out West" in 1959 to Toronto Township (later the City of Mississauga).
In the 1960s, Doug married Eleanor and started his family. They travelled extensively and enjoyed countless vacations and summers at the cottage in Muskoka.
Doug was a significant contributor to the development and growth of Mississauga over the past fifty-plus years.
He was involved in myriad commercial development projects, volunteered with several organizations, received an Ontario Service Award, many awards within Community Living Mississauga and a Mississauga Civic Award of Recognition.
He was named Mississauga's Citizen of the Year in 2018.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, July 25th, at the Mississauga Golf and Country Club from 2 to 5 p.m.
