Obituary of Norma Marguerite Sweet
SWEET, Norma Marguerite Sweet - September 11, 1942 - August 26, 2024

It is with great sadness and with very heavy hearts our family announces the peaceful passing into God’s care of Norma Marguerite Sweet, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday August 26th, 2024 at the age of 81.

Norma is survived by her loving sister Beverly and her husband Gordon Gierman, and her sister-in-law Gail Sweet. Cherished and loving Aunt of Wendy Sweet, Laura-Lynn and her husband Kevin Stephens, Brenda and her husband Kevin Eccles. Very proud, loving and adoring Great Aunt of Riley Stephens, Quinn Hasenhindl, Brody Stephens, Cameron Eccles and Caleb Eccles.

She is predeceased by her loving parents, Thomas Lloyd and Marguerite Sweet, her beloved late brother Lawrence Sweet, and sister Sandra Sweet, her cherished and beloved late nephews Gregory Sweet and Scott Sweet, and many other late family members and friends, including her beloved late fur baby Velvet.

Norma was born in Oshawa, ON. As a child, she lived in Courtice, ON, in the home known within the community history as “the house that Jack built” at Townline. Their family moved to Oshawa in 1949 to the Centre Street house where Norma spent most of her years growing up. There were a lot of great times shared with her many family members and friends over those 55 years in that house. After the passing of her father, she moved to another home within Oshawa, with her mother and sister Sandra where she enjoyed it being filled with family celebrations, love, happiness and laughter with her family for many years and where she last resided. She had a successful career with OPG as a clerk. With a strong commitment to her religious faith, following the words of the bible, God, her saviour. She attended Trinity Pentecostal Church in Oshawa for several years. She especially loved and adored all of her nieces and nephews with her greatest love being for all of her great nephews who she was so incredibly proud of and loved beyond measure.

A special thank you to nurses at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, that cared for Norma in her final days. Thank you to Oshawa Funeral Home for their caring guidance through this difficult time and thank you to Mount Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Wednesday September 4th, 2024 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, September 5th at 1:30 pm. Interment to follow at Mount Lawn Cemetery. Reception to follow at Oshawa Funeral Home Heritage Room.

Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or Charity of your choice would be appreciated.

John 11:25-26. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Amen
