Amos EvelynAMOS, Evelyn Dorothy (Noakes) - An Officer of The Salvation Army for 63 years, Major Evelyn Amos was Promoted to Glory on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. 

Predeceased by her husband, Major Edward Amos; parents, Albert and Blanche Noakes; sister, Margaret Foster; and brother, Ron Noakes. 

Evelyn is survived by her four children, Eleanor Knight (Stephen) of Richmond Hill, Gloria Ryan (John) of Arizona, Richard Amos (Stephanie) of Burlington and Ronald of Courtenay, B.C.; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren whom she cherished dearly. 

Evelyn also leaves behind two devoted sisters, Ruth Hotchkiss of Cambridge and Pat Lunn of Brantford, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Evelyn entered The Salvation Army College for Officer Training in Toronto and was ordained as a Salvation Army Officer in 1958. Ev and Ed served in full-time ministry until their retirement in 1989. Evelyn’s ministry continued long into her retirement years. 

She was a gifted musician, vocalist, and accomplished pianist, and she brought joy to the lives of countless individuals through her gift of music. Ev was a pastor and friend to anyone who crossed her path. 

As a family, we give thanks to our Heavenly Father for gifting us with the life of this beautiful woman of faith. Many thanks to the dedicated team at The Salvation Army Meighen Retirement Residence for their exceptional care of our Mom. 

Arrangements with Humphrey Funeral Home, Toronto.  A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
