SMITH, Scott Smith

SMITH, Scott Smith

After a very brave and fierce battle with cancer, Scott passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, August 3, 2026.

In the days leading up to his passing, Scott reflected on the life he had lived and expressed his gratitude for the many blessings he had experienced. He shared that he had no regrets and spoke of the loving upbringing provided by his parents, the close relationships he enjoyed with his brother and sister, and the pride he felt in his career as a firefighter, knowing that he had made a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Scott Smith spoke with great appreciation for the twenty-five years he shared with his beloved wife, Linda, and for their son, Théo, of whom he was immensely proud. Scott also reflected fondly on the many friendships he had cultivated throughout his life. Despite the challenges he faced in his final years, he remained grateful for the life he had lived and the experiences he had shared with those closest to him.

Scott approached everything he was passionate about with enthusiasm and dedication. When Scott had a passion, he was all in. He was a die-hard Miami Dolphins fan even when he had many reasons to jump ship, and was an avid outdoorsman, taking advantage of all seasons every chance he got. We were often entertained by his singing and guitar playing, and he was quite well known as a man who knew how to bust a move on the dance floor.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Linda Pelletier-Smith, and his son and best friend, Théo Smith; his father, Ray Smith (Carey); his brother, Michael Smith (Lisa); and his sister, Carrie Lynn Bonavia. Scott is predeceased by his mother, Patricia Smith. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Jean-Marc Pelletier (Majda Zore); his mother-in-law, Monique Sauloup (Matt Lawless); his brother-in-law, Franco Pelletier (Cari); his sister-in-law, Fannie McFadden; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and a wide circle of friends who will deeply miss him.

Scott will be remembered for his strength, his generosity, his sense of humour, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.

Scott’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at Sault Area Hospital and Health Sciences North in Sudbury for their kindness, compassion, care, and support shown to Scott and his family.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Rev.
